any tips or advice for barbell deadlifts? I usually have a shoulder width stance, with toes pointed outward and my arms outside my legs. Tonight, I widened my stance and let my arms hang down between my knees. It felt much more centered and balanced. I also lower it slow and controlled (unlike I see most people) that's where I really check my form. any suggestions?

So you just switched to Sumo Deadlifts (which is cheating btw)? You can find many great Deadlift tutorials by renowned coaches on YouTube. I'd suggest the Deadlift Technique Pillars by Juggernaut Training Systems. Anyway, Sumo Deadlifts are fine and I was joking, but they don't target the same muscles the same way as Conventional Deadlifts. There's no use doing Conventional if it doesn't suit your anatomy though. For muscle building Romanian Deadlifts or Straight Legged Deadlifts are far superior to both Conventional and Sumo.

It sounds like you know what you’re doing. I lower mine controlled also as I’m going more for hypertrophy than raw strength. I do both conventional and sumo as they hit slightly different muscles.
